Our Story

Hi and welcome to Jennifer's Gluten-Free Kitchen!

My name is Jennifer and I am so happy to be offering gluten-free food to Thunder Bay.

I graduated from culinary school in May of 2020 as a mature student wanting to start a new career based on my passion for cooking and eating good food. In 2023 I also graduated as a certified Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. 

Prior to culinary school, I spent 25 years as a professional fundraiser in the non-profit sector in Thunder Bay Ontario. Leaving the philanthropy world to start a home-based cooking business was a result of being diagnosed as gluten intolerant. I know first-hand the challenges faced by people with celiac disease and non-celiac gluten sensitivity, looking for delicious food options that are truly gluten-free. I believe you shouldn't have to compromise taste when living gluten-free.

Everything we make at Jennifer's Gluten-Free Kitchen is carefully prepared to ensure it is 100% gluten-free, because "gluten-friendly" is simply not good enough. We use fresh ingredients, and as much as possible they are locally sourced. We offer a variety of baked goods and savoury dishes that range from truly decadent to Whole30 compliant. In addition to gluten-free options, we also offer a wide variety of dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan options. 

So, whether you are looking for something to satisfy your sweet tooth, a few weekday meals prepped in advance, or catering for special occasions, we hope you find what you are looking for at Jennifer's Gluten-Free Kitchen.

I want to say a big thank you to PARO and Thunder Bay CEDC Entrepreneur Centre, for their funding programs and incredible support along the way.  As well, I extend a huge thanks to my friend and catering mentor, Rhonda BIll, who helped me get established and grow as a caterer.

As of December 1st, 2023 we will be located at our first storefront location, at 107-215 Red River Road. Look for the Gluten-Free neon sign in the window!
